Allen Iverson has officially announced his retirement from the NBA. He was definitely a very entertaining player to watch on the court and off the court. Although some people may remember him for his antics like the "Practice" incident no one can say he didn’t go all out every night and competed.
Update: Allen Iverson unretired and signed a 1 year deal on Dec. 4th to go back to the 76ers.
September, 1994- April, 1996: Iverson plays college ball at Georgetown under Coach John Thompson. Iverson wins consecutive Big East defensive player of the year awards.
June, 1996: Number one pick in the 1996 NBA Draft.
November 2, 1996: Iverson’s first game against Michael Jordan. Bulls win 115 – Sixers 86. Iverson scores 15, Jordan scores 27.
April, 1997: Iverson named NBA’s 1996 Rookie of the Year.
May, 2001: Iverson named NBA’s 2000 MVP
June, 2001: Iverson plays in his first and only NBA Finals. Sixers lose the series 4-1 to the Los Angeles Lakers
May, 2002: Iverson’s infamous "We talking about practice" quote. Iverson was benched by Coach Larry Brown after being late for practice.
December 19, 2006: Iverson traded to the Denver Nuggets.
November 3, 2008: Iverson traded to the Detroit Pistons.
September 10, 2009: Iverson signs a one year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.
November 7, 2009: Iverson leaves the Grizzlies for personal reasons.
November 26, 2009: Iverson announces his retirement.
