Social Media and Businesses

black_friday  Everyone these days have some kind of social media account whether it be a twitter, blog or facebook account. While doing the annual Black Friday shopping frenzy I noticed that unlike the previous years of shopping chaos this year was an organized chaos. And this is due to information getting out to consumers. Although the discounts this year are not as deep as previous years because of tight inventory, people have been waiting for a reason to shop. Now they go shop knowing already what they want and where to get it before leaving the house. It was only a matter of time before businesses accept social media as a new form to brand and market themselves to a larger audience. Some companies have social media accounts just so they can have it and look relevant but not making it work to their advantage. Companies have shared sale information early so it can proliferate the social networking world of blogs, FB, tweets and let the people do their own marketing. So if you’re planning on braving the cold make sure to check out your social media sites to get the best deals and shop efficiently.

Here is a video explaining how Ikea used Facebook’s most basic feature to its advantage.
