Every year around this time people make and attempt to do they New Year’s Resolutions. Some will succeed, some will flame out in the process, and some never even get to start. People procrastinate, or just get distracted. I do it myself, sometimes putting things off or just being side tracked. There have been days when I do nothing just sitting home watching endless movie’s, sit in front of the PS3 and beat COD MW in one sitting, get home at 4am after a night out, waking up as late as 2pm. That’s fine, everyone is entitled to some R&R but after a while it becomes unhealthy and unnatural. I guess what I am saying is to be productive a majority of our time. Sometimes being unproductive feels good and sometimes provides instant gratification but having a productive day will always feel better at the end of the day. To be productive do the following things
How to be Productive:
- Do not PROCRASTINATE! Get things started. Once your started it’s cruise control from there. Getting something started is the toughest part of a project.
- Find ways to motivate yourself. Write down a to do list. Make short term and long term goals. Make it a point to achieve those goals.
- Just Do It. I know that’s Nike’s slogan but its the truth. After making that to do list from above Just Do It!
- Treat your projects as if it was a job. Set up a few hours daily to focus on your tasks. Be realistic and don’t lie to yourself. If you can only work for an hour then work for an hour and work from there. Goal is to set time for yourself to do things.
- Repetition. Don’t stop after achieving a goal or failing to achieve a goal. Keep going!
