I’m late on this one. This ad was ran by BMW back in 2008 for their Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle’s which were used in Greece. Everyone knows by now that sex sells when marketing products. The image is not visually disturbing but its the quote "You know you’re not the first" that puts it over the top. A definite sexual innuendo that a beautiful women has already had sex more than once. Message, BMW cars are so desirable it doesn’t matter if you are not the first one driving it which portrays the woman as used. Not a good message to be sending out.
Any marketing for a product bad or good is good marketing since its main objective is to spark conversations. Certainly got mine and its the first time I’ve paid attention to a used car ad. BMW knows what its doing though and must have done a lot of research on its audience which is why it only ran in Greece. This ad would have never made it here in the US.
