Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock you’ve probably heard of Steven Slater. He’s the (former) flight attendant for Jet Blue who after being berated by a customer while stuck on the tarmac at JFK, decided to give everyone a giant, "take this job and shove it," message by sharing some choice words over the PA, grabbing a beer, employing an emergency chute and sliding to the ground where he sauntered off and away.
Don’t know what to think of this whole situation. One way to look at it is that it was an inappropriate action and not how you handle a customer or quitting a job. If I were to quit a job I would probably give in my two weeks and shake hands with my boss before leaving to keep a professional relationship going. Steven acted with instinct.
On the other hand, one of my first thoughts was of amusement and "damn good for him." Have we come so frustrated and angry with the economy, our surrounding situations that we cheer his actions? Live our life vicariously through him?
